Assoc. Professor Łukasz Małek, M.D., Ph.D. is a preventive cardiologist and a sports cardiologist currently working at the Department of Epidemiology, Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Health Promotion at the National Institute of Cardiology in Warsaw, Poland where he leads the Sports Cardiology Clinic. He has previously held a professor position at the Faculty of Rehabilitation, University of Physical Education in Warsaw. He is a highest-level expert in cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) and an author of questions for the CMR Certification Committee of the European Society of Cardiology. His research focuses on the clinical applications of CMR, sports cardiology, epidemiology and cardiovascular disease prevention (>125, IF=250, >1700 citations; h-index=21; i10-index=42). He finished MSc in Sports Cardiology at St. George’s University of London. He has led one of per-protocol sub-analyses of a large international clinical trial – the Occluded Artery Trial and has an experience of working as a medical advisor in one of the major pharmaceutical companies. He has collaborated with experts from the USA, the UK, the Czech Republic, Italy and Brazil. He has been involved in many activities of Sections and Committees of the Polish Society of Cardiology.
