Dr. Anna Nowak is a dedicated medical professional with a background in diabetes research and clinical practice. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the Medical University of Warsaw, Dr. Anna Nowak is a 4-year Doctoral Studies – Ph.D. student with a research focus on the “Effects of empagliflozin therapy on circulating non-coding RNAs associated with sirtuin pathways in patients after myocardial infarction.”
Dr. Anna Nowak completed a six-year program at the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Warsaw, where they received the prestigious “Golden Badge” award from the Student Scientific Association for their outstanding academic achievements.
With a passion for diabetes research, Dr. Anna Nowak has embarked on a journey to bridge the gap between basic science and clinical practice. They currently hold a position as a Medical Doctor specializing in diabetology at the Centre Clinical Hospital, University Clinical Centre, Medical University of Warsaw, where she works under the guidance of Prof. Leszek Czupryniak. In this role, Dr. Anna Nowak is responsible for diagnosing and managing diabetes patients, as well as overseeing critical biobanking efforts, crucial for translational research.
Additionally, Dr. Anna Nowak serves as a Principal Investigator in a Preludium Grant (grant number: 2022/45/N/NZ7/02461) at the Medical University of Warsaw’s Centre for Preclinical Research and Technology (CePT), Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology, led by Prof. Dagmara Mirowska-Guzel. This grant focuses on the pharmacogenomics of SGLT2 inhibitors and their impact on epigenetic modification of non-coding RNA – sirtuin – Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 axis after myocardial infarction.
In 2022, Dr. Anna Nowak had the privilege of expanding their horizons through international experiences, including a Fellowship at McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada, in the Genetic and Molecular Epidemiology Laboratory under the mentorship of Prof. Guillaume Pare. This global exposure has enriched their perspective and broadened their knowledge.
As a team member of the International Cardiovascular and Cardiometabolic Research Team (I-COMET), co-founded by Prof. Marek Postuła, MD, PhD, and Prof. Jolanta Siller-Matula, MD, PhD, Dr. Anna Nowak actively contributes to collaborative efforts aimed at advancing cardiovascular research and patient care.
Dr. Anna Nowak continues to be actively involved in academic teaching, sharing their knowledge in clinical pharmacology, diabetology, and internal medicine with medical students at the Medical University of Warsaw. Their commitment to academic growth is further exemplified by their role as a reviewer in Cardiovascular Diabetology in 2022.
